WEB DESIGN AND PHOTOGRAPHY
FOR BROGAIG COTTAGES SELF CATERING
In June 2017 we were approached by Kathy Elder about providing graphic design services for her new 4 star self catering business in Staffin on the Isle of Skye. Kathy required a new logo for her business with professional photography and high quality website design. After an initial meeting with Kathy and her approving our quote we then scheduled a photoshoot of the cottages.
We traveled to the cottages at the end of June 2017. The cottages are nestled on the hillside of the township of Staffin underneath the famous Quiraing Mountain range. After a quick chat with the property builder Charlie Elder on arrival we then began photographing the interior of the first cottage. Kathy Elder directed all the interior design to a high standard and complimented with excellent building work and open plan design the cottages really were a joy to photograph.
The open plan design allowed us to combine various elements of the cottages in specifically chosen angles such as a photo showing the kitchen and breakfast bar with the superking size double bedroom in the background. Both the cottages look out on to the stunning Staffin Bay which we also photographed as this would be another significant selling point for the cottages. You can see a selection of the photography services provided by Hugh Campbell Marketing below:
With the photography in place we then began work on the Brogaig Cottages logo design. Kathy was very specific in that she had requested outlines of the cottages be used in the logo. We created two versions on the logo design, one with outlined and a version where we adding shading to the sketches to provide more volume and impact. After reviewing both designs it was agreed the shaded logo design was to be used for the business branding. With the logo design in place we then began work designing the business website.
The site was required to reflect the 4 standard market the clients were selling the property in so we opted for a subtle yet classy combination of dark colours with a complementarity Gold colour. Selecting colours of this nature is always a balance between subtle and being eye catching and aesthetically pleasing.
For the website design itself we created the site in Adobe Muse using responsive design. We also integrated Freetobook to manage on-line bookings for the client and make them a huge saving on commission per booking as they were paying 18% to an existing supplier. We then search engine optimised the site and submitted it to all the major search engines. We also set Kathy and Charlie up with a business email address using Google Apps for work infrastructure.
Speaking of our service Kathy Elder added:
"Delighted with service provided by Hugh Campbell Marketing. The new website and logo for the self catering business is fantastic - just what we wanted. Hugh provided an excellent service, giving lots of helpful advice on marketing, advertising and booking. His patience and professionalism much appreciated. I cannot recommend him highly enough."
We would like to wish Kathy and Charlie the best of luck with their new business venture.
