ISLE OF SKYE WEB DESIGN
Hugh Campbell Marketing were approached at the beginning of April 2017 by Ian Macpherson who had just purchased a new 5 bedroom property. He had just finishing renovating the house and was ready to sell his rooms on-line. Hugh Campbell Marketing on the Isle of Skye were asked to provide a new adaptive website design compatible with desktop, tablet and mobile devices. The client also required photography of the interior and exterior of the building.
We visited the property located in the Cuillin Hills estate in Portree on the Isle of Skye and began a quick site survey before proceeding with the photoshoot. For maximum image quality we used a Nikon D8200 with Nikkor 18-75 mm lens. This set-up is perfect for property imaging and provides excellent image quality and vibrant colours.
For each room we take took shots from multiple angles with a higher proportion top down to give a better idea on scale of the rooms. Our photography services on the Isle of Skye are excellent value hence why we often include it with our website design quotes. High quality professional images complimented with a visually pleasing design is the most effective way to sell real estate and accommodation related businesses on-line.
In total we photographed 5 bedrooms and their corresponding en suite bathrooms. We also photographed the shared living area and took some hallway shots for context.
With the photographs in place we then returned to the office and began the process of selecting the best shots. This selection was then adjusted in Photoshop touching up aspects such as brightness, crop and levels.
We were now ready to start on the design and we knew with such good property images in place we wanted a significant proportion of the web design to be allocated to image space. As a result, we implemented a Slideshow widget on the site home page showing some of the best bedroom shots. We also decided on a bright cheery colour scheme and crafted a basic but effective business logo.
As the user scrolls down the homepage we added parallax effects such as gradual opacity change to give a welcoming feel to the site. We added this effect to both text and images. At the bottom of each page a "Book Now" button was placed to encourage prospective clients to book rooms at our clients property in Portree on the Isle of Skye.
A panel gallery was added allowing users to select at random any 9 images which would also cycle through automatically. On the contact page we placed a Google map with pin showing the bed and breakfast location and also integrated the business on-line booking engine which on this occasion was Freetobook.
